Follow these Tips:
1. Gather the tools. The list is below.
2. Don’t do it alone, have another person help you..
3. Take the tweezers and grab the tick by the head, as close to the cat’s body as possible. Do not grab the tick’s body!
4. Slowly but firmly pull outward. Do NOT twist or jerk.
5. Once the tick came loose, drop it into the glass with alcohol where it will be killed and desinfected.
6. Apply hydrocortisone spray to the bite wound.
7. Thoroughly wash and desinfect your own hands and safely dispose of the dead tick.
Myths:
It is an urban legend to use vaseline, kerosene, nail polish remover, or rubbing alcohol to either suffocate the tick or force it to come out on it’s own. All this action will do is irritate the skin around the bite more and cause infection.
Keep treating the bite wound with hydrocortisone spray until it scabs over.

Declawing is the surgical amputation of the first joint of the cat’s toes which includes the nail. It is illegal and considered cruel and inhumane in many European countries unless the declawing surgery has a medical benefit.
The surgery itself is performed using a guillotine-type blade and the cat will be under general anesthesia. Post-operative pain will be severe therefore pain control medication is often prescribed. Another procedure called tendonectomy involves the severing of the ligaments behind each of the cat’s toe, which then prevents the claws from being extended.
Cats were born with claws for a reason and that reason is to defend themselves and to hunt their prey. Depriving the cats of their basic form of defense as well as their tools for exercise and mobility is cruel and inhumane.
Brushing Your Cat’s Teeth
There is only one way to find out if you cat will tolerate to have her teeth brushed: go for it! Use a toothbrush and toothpaste for cats. Human toothpaste is NOT safe for cats. Simply open your cat’s mouth by lifting his lip at the sides of his mouth and start brushing carefully. Regular checkups at the vet’s should include a dental examination and regular cleanings.
Cleaning Your Cat’s Ears
You can use a Q-Tip, but be careful. Moisten it first with some water. Carefully wipe the exterior areas of your cat’s ears. Never insert the Q-Tip directly into the ears; the eardrum is very sensitive and easily destroyed. You can use a table spoon of Peroxide and let it drip into the ear. The cat will shake his head and get rid of the gunk that way himself.
Litter box and spraying can cause frustration to every cat owner. You will find help in understanding what causes the behavior to begin with. It’s could be caused by a urinary tract infection, a territorial response, new home, new baby, new litter box, new pet, new litter, not enough litter, the wrong box, location of the box, not enough boxes, you name it! Please be aware and understand that punishment is never the answer. It might make the situation even worse.
The first response to your cat not using the litter box should be a trip to the vet to eliminate any physical causes such as a urinary tract infection (the most common cause). Spraying is marking the territory. If your cat has not been neutered, you should consider it.
Most common reasons for declawing a cat are:
1. The protection of children in the household from getting scratched.
2. The protection of other pets in the household.
3. The protection of furniture, doors, curtains, etc.
4. It's a condition of the rental agreement (believe it or not!)
Reasons to support an Anti-decaling Law in the United States:
1. To declaw a cat is painful, inhumane, cruel, and considered a mutilation and amputation.
2. To declaw a cat deprives him of his most important defense mechanism and leaves him vulnerable to attack.
3. To declaw a cat means that he might develop other negative behavior issues such as biting or using everything but the litter box to eliminate himself.
4. To declaw a cat means the deprivation of the stretching and pulling exercise that is needed to develop strong muscles.
5. To declaw a cat means to deprive the cat of her stalking ability. A cat is meant to walk on her toes and will suffer tendon damage and arthritis in the long run!
6. To declaw a cat means to put the cat through the phantom pains. Yes, cats have those too and often turn neurotic.
7. To declaw a cat deprives the cat of the ability to scratch herself.
A day or two before your dog will give birth, she usually stops eating. See this as a sign that the time is nearing. Always make sure, no matter how experienced you are, that you have a Vet ready to intervene if something goes wrong.
Let’s assume everything goes smooth and you have witnessed the birth of a healthy six puppy litter. Now the most important and first thing is momma’s nutrition. The older the puppies get, the more they will drink, and the more mommas need to eat.
Give her all the food she wants. Rule of thumb: you always pay for quality. The cheap dog foods at most stores is also cheap in nutrition! A minimum of 1600 digestible calories per pound of food and at least 21% of crude protein is a must. Read the label!!!! If your dog tends to gain weight, measure her food intake. If not, give her all the food she wants. If she starts to lose weight moisten her food or try switching to a more nutritionally dense brand.
After three or four weeks the pups will probably start playing with the food and start to get interested, which is also a good way to introduce them to solid food. At six to eight weeks most puppies are weaned and you can put your dog back on a normal diet, provided she has gained back her normal weight she had before she got pregnant.
The treatment for cats with mild diarrhea (if they are not dehydrated or show other symptoms) is as follows:
First add a teaspoon of plain yogurt to your cat's food or let her lick it off the spoon. If that has not helped the diarrhea within 24 hours, go on to the next step.
Withhold food for 24 hours. Then feed a bland diet such as boiled rice with cooked lean hamburger or chicken, cottage cheese or yogurt. Use mall feedings a few times a day for two or three days.
If your cat still has diarrhea after 3 days, it is strongly recommended that you consult a veterinary. While most cases of temporary diarrhea are a simple case of a “bug”, in some cases it is the sign of a serious underlying cause and a visit to the vet can save your cat’s life.
Your dog needs exercise, discipline, and love. In exactly that order! If your dog could ask you for what he wants, this is what he would tell you. Unfortunately the majority of dog owners believe that loving and cuddling a dog is going to make him happy and that affection is all he needs.
They do not consider that a dog needs mental and physical exercise too. If the energy has no way to go but to build up and up and up, the dog is going to develop some kind of unwanted behavior; in most cases aggression, digging, chewing on furniture, barking excessively.
Exercise is the most important part of your dog's life. You have to walk him every day, or even better, twice a day for at least 30 minutes for each walk. A walk means more to your dog than just eliminating himself, but instead it fulfills his instincts to walk for food. A backyard is not enough; it is just a big cage for your dog! Structured daily walks are so crucial to your dog to feel like a dog.
Pregnant or nursing dog moms need different nutrition than all the other dogs. Here are some things you should know if you have a pregnant dog:
The pregnancy lasts around 9 weeks. For the first 6 to 7 weeks you should not change the amount of food that you usually feed her. After that, you should start to gain some weight. Give her about 25% more food a day. Make lots fresh water available to her at all times! Do not forger that your dog still needs exercise; not as much as before, but she still is a dog with the needs of a dog.
What to feed: general commercial good quality dog food.
When the time of birth comes, she probably will stop eating all together a day or two before she is ready. If this is the first time for you and your dog, please consult a veterinarian and consider spaying your dog after this litter is weaned.
Praising your dog at the wrong time will teach him the wrong things. We have to keep it simple with dogs. Whenever you praise him, be it with a treat or a friendly word or pat on the head, you are telling him that whatever he did immediately before the praise, is what he did right.
For example if your dog is scared of a flying plastic bag and you talk to him with a soothing voice while patting him on the head, you are telling him that it is ok to be scared of that plastic bag. Instead you should walk him sternly towards the bag until he understood that there is no danger at all.
Here are some behaviors that truly deserve a praise. Give praise when your dog has been:
Do NOT praise your dog if he is:
Show your love by understanding your dog and giving him what he needs: love at the right time, rules, exercise, and walks walks walks.
