Bringing Home Your New Puppy Friend

Bringing Home Your New Puppy Friend

Bringing home a puppy is no different than bringing home an infant. You still need to prepare your house and make sure it is safe and comfortable. You want to be sure the puppy’s transition is a smooth one.

Before you bring your new pup home, you should ask some important questions to it’s breeder such as what it’s temperament is like, what it’s feeding schedule is and what type of food it is used to eating. Be sure to take home at least a week or two supply of the food it’s use to before trying anything different so as not to upset it’s little tummy. Ask about their vacination history, and which vet they go to now, and if they have insurance. Look around where you live and see if there is a pet store and qualified vets London near your home.

Some supplies you will need are 2 bowls, one for food and the other for fresh water. Avoid ceramic or plastic bowls as these chip and are easy to chew. Stainless steal are ideal.

It’s a good idea to keep the doggy crate around and open. Your pup will like to use it as a cozy den which will make it feel safe. Having a crate will also help with bladder control as your puppy will not urinate where it sleeps.

Slowly introduce your kids to your new pup if they are young. You want to make sure your younger kids understand that rough housing, pulling and tugging on your new pup can hurt it. Make sure you are there to supervise when your kids are playing with your puppy.

The best thing you can do for your new puppy is be patient with it, provide it with plenty of food and water and make sure it has a safe, comfortable environment to live in. Also, be sure to show it lots of love.
