5 Tips to dressing Up Your Pet Poodle

Dressing up your pet poodle serves to make your beloved pet look cute but also serves a useful function: clothes can help make your poodle cool in the summer or warm in the winter. But keep in mind that most animals, including poodles, do not enjoy wearing clothes at first and they will need to become accustomed to it. Here are five important tips when you are dressing up your pet poodle to avoid creating more jobs for vets where you live.

1. Comfort. Choose outfits that are made from materials that will not bother your pet. Use natural fibres, such as cotton, to ensure your dog will not be bothered by it. Itchiness will make your pet spend more time trying to get the outfit off rather than looking cute.

2. Sizing. It is important that the outfit you choose is the proper size for your pet. Whether the clothes you choose are too big or too small, both will become a nuisance to your pet. Like humans, your pet will want to wear clothes that fit nicely without being bothersome.

3. Appropriate seasons. Choose your outfits for your dog by which season you are in. Do not put your poodle in a thick wool suit when it’s mid-August. He will likely become uncomfortable and he may even succumb to heat stroke. Make sure he is not panting too much in the summer when dressed up.

4. Timing. Most outfits designed for pets are constricting. Because of this, you should avoid having your poodle stay in costume for too long. Let him be free and able to breathe and only keep him in his outfit for a few hours at a time.

5. Choking hazards. Avoid outfits that have bells, bows, or ribbons; they may be choke hazards. Your poodle is very much like a child, so make sure you keep your beloved critter safe from potential harm.
