5 Foods Not To Give Your Dog

Many dog owners tend to forget that dogs do not have the same digestive abilities of humans, and because of this, some foods are rather dangerous for your pet. Should your dog ingest any one of these foods, immediately contact your vet. These foods can be extremely dangerous for your beloved pet, and could very well result in death. Here are the top 5 foods not to give your dog:

1. Chocolate. This is notoriously dangerous for a dog, and most people are aware of it. However, chocolate can cause seizures, coma, and most often, death. The more condensed the chocolate, the quicker the symptoms will appear. Milk chocolate, for example may show little symptoms at first due to its lack of concentration; however, it is still extremely dangerous.

2. Raisins or grapes. These foods surprise a lot of people. Raisins and grapes attack the kidney, causing kidney failure. Even a single serving can kill your dog.

3. Bones. Although a great way to clean your dog’s teeth, bones will often shatter and splinter, which can puncture or tear the internal organs, especially cooked bones. Even raw bones can cause a hazard. If you choose to give your dog a bone, keep constant supervision and take the bone away from your dog once the bone breaks.

4. Tomatoes. Although the plant itself is dangerous to a dog and are extremely toxic, the tomato itself can cause tremors and heart arrhythmias. Try to avoid.

5. Macadamia nuts. These nuts can cause paralysis. You should also eliminate most nuts from your dog’s diet as they can create kidney stones, due to their high phosphorous content. Peanut butter is widely considered a safe exception, but make sure to use natural organic peanut butter. Sugar can trigger cancer in most dogs. Regular peanut butter also contains a lot of toxins that can affect your dog’s general health.
