We are all a little sentimental when it comes to our pets. Their unassuming and limitless love brightens up our days. And yet when it comes to pet insurance many of us don’t think it so very necessary.
Why is pet insurance needed?
We hope that our pets will remain healthy forever, yet no one can predict the future. An accident, an illness or even in the case of theft, pet insurance comes as a welcome helping hand. Just putting away money for an eventuality is not enough when you have to shell out for the veterinary bills incase of an illness.
Which animals are covered under pet insurance?
Insurance covers for dogs and cats are the most common and easily available. However horses are also fairly well covered. For other animals there are specialized policies.
What is the best age for pet insurance?
The earlier you insure your pet the better it is. Not only will it help cover the injuries which young and curious animals are wont to suffer, you also get a cover for diseases which may show up only in the later age of your animal.
Can I choose my own veterinary doctor?
Most companies will allow you that freedom.
What about pet liability?
Pet liability is the responsibility that you have in case your pet inadvertently harms a passerby. Most insurance covers should include this as well.
It is not difficult to find pet insurance and compare their various features over the internet. But before you commit your self to any one remember to check the deductibles. If these are high you will be shelling out much more that you planned for. Also check the limits regarding the present health and age of your dog. All in all it is a very good and practical idea to insure your pets.
