Typically, cats are well groomed animals because they are constantly cleaning themselves. There are some responsibilities on your part as being a cat owner that you can do to help keep your cat’s fur healthy and clean.
Brush your cat’s fur on a daily basis. Most cats enjoy this process, but go slow at first if it is your cat’s first time. This will remove any loose hair that could turn into hairballs and will be some extra bonding time for you and your cat.
Every so often, a cat will need a bath. This is usually not a good experience for your cat, but with a little preparation, you can make the process go a bit easier. Have everything ready before you place the cat in the bath. Items such as a sponge, shower head, shampoo, towel, basin and other necessary items should be gathered.
Ease your cat gently into a couple inches of warm water and do not begin the bathing process until they are fully calm. Talk to your cat reassuringly to keep it relaxed. Once it seems relaxed, you may begin the bathing process.
Fleas and mites are almost inevitable for most animals. This can be prevented by visiting your local vet and having them recommend some products. Usually this would be in the form of flea drops, flea collars, certain medicine bath lotions or even an injection. It is up to you to keep this problem under control as these types of critters can spread though out your entire home.
Simple little steps that you take to care for your cat’s fur and health in general will keep your cat happy and peaceful.
As a sidebar, I am looking into getting a Caravan insurance quote for my horse trailer. If any of my readers have a good suggestion I would be very grateful!
