Having pets is a sheer delight. Dogs are generally the most preferred animals among pets. They love you as much as you love them. They make you relax, play with you, lower your blood pressure and release your tension. It is a joy to see your pet dog welcoming you with his tail wagging happily from side to side. If you bring him when he is a puppy, you can also train him and teach him tricks and games. People hang photo’s on the walls of their beloved creatures, some canvas printing companys even offer photo printing package deals for your pet just like they do for humans! Some people even offer their pets food from their own plates and sometimes they even share their bed.
When a pet is ill, it is like one’s own child falling ill. You have to take him to a doctor and pay the vet’s fees which sometimes can be quite heavy. There is of course dog insurance which one can buy from the pet insurance companies. Since a pet can also need medicines, hospitalization, injections just like any human being, it is necessary to buy pet insurance. Unlike insurance for humans, the UK allow’s you to visit any vet in the country and consult for general, special and emergency treatments. You have to fill in the necessary form, get the vet to sign it and then put in a claim which can be reimbursed.
Also you can insure your pet when you travel and the expenses will be paid by the insurance company in the event of your pet falling ill and needing medical treatment. The majority of pet insurance companies issue a policy to pets when they are about eight weeks old to about eight to ten years old. Older dogs may need medical examinations. Usually there is a short waiting period of a few days to a couple of weeks before the pet insurance policy comes into operation. This is to ensure that no person buys a policy after the pet is actually ill or has had an accident.
