Let the fur fly!

A shaggy cat story

A shaggy cat story

Cat people are those who love their animals mostly for their serene beauty. A cat owner realises that her beloved pet is not the faithful friend that a dog is to its owner and if their cat is not perfectly content, they will go elsewhere and find a new home. The cat lover therefore frets if they go missing and tempts them back with their favorite food, just so that they may spend time in its favoured company and stroke his or her beautiful coat.

If then the main pleasure in owning a cat is being able to admire their good looks, how can their image be preserved? With all that fur they have no need for anti aging skin care products unless they are to be generally used in their health regime. Supplements for instance can be added to their diet to keep them bright eyed and bushy tailed. The main problem with a cat’s beautiful coat is that it can become tangled and need constant brushing.

The best advice to keep your cat’s coat glossy and in tip top condition is to get it used to being brushed. Start when it is only a kitten and pretend it is a game. Get your little cat used to be handled and you will not have the temper tantrums of an old cat who wants to be left alone. There is a danger here that once a cat is older and has become rather stiff, it will not be able to reach all the areas of his body during self grooming and his fur may become dull and severely matted. In cases like this you may have to take him to the vet in order that tangles can be removed and it is often that this kind of essential treatment is not covered by your pet insurance.

Even the most well trained cat may have knots and tangles in their coat, especially if they have a long fluffy coat. Now this might sound dangerous but the best way to attack a matted lump of fur is to tease it gently with a razor blade, using light straight cuts and then you will find the knot will brush away.
